Giveaway!

I've been thinking about having a giveaway for a while now. A little way to show appreciation to all of A Bountiful Kitchen's loyal readers!  Hmmm...What to give? Gadgets I love? Food Products? One of my children? I finally decided on cookbooks. I have been collecting cookbooks for years.  I love to pick up cookbooks whenever we travel, and Grant buys all types of cookbooks and brings them back to me when he travels on business.  Friends and family tote books home for me when they travel, too.  The Internet is, of course, an amazing resource but there is just something special about having a book in your hands, and on your shelf. I know I'm weird, but I read cookbooks, like book group women read novels.  On any given day, I have a stack of cookbooks piled next to my bed.  Currently, I'm reading a Cooks Illustrated "Best American Classics", "Favorites" a local family cookbook, "Seasons in Thyme" the Jr. League of Birmingham, Michigan and "The Sweet Melissa Baking Book".   One of my favorite collections of books are Ina Garten's "Barefoot Contessa" cookbooks.  The Photographs are beautiful, recipes simple and easy to follow.  I've had good luck with almost everything I've tried out of the 6  Barefoot Contessa books I have.  So, this month, I'm giving away one of my favorites - her newest book ( I think it's still her newest book?)-

Barefoot Contessa Back to Basics

Just leave a comment about any Barefoot Contessa recipes you have tried.  If you haven't tried any, no problem! Tell me why you would like to have "Back to Basics".  You have till midnight, Saturday, July 18.  The winner will be announced on Monday the 20th.  Good Luck!

PS - I'm new at this - I should have explained earlier, I'll be using a random counter to choose the winner!

  2. I wouldn't even know where to begin...I've liked every recipe of hers that I've tried! The scones are especially good, and her cheddar corn chowder.

    I love your blog!

  3. I would love this book because I don't have cable so I don't get to be inspired by her. I love how she's barefoot though, like me, and I would love to know how she really really gets back to the basics. I need to be inspired again to get back on the cooking bandwagon and into active life.

  4. I know I have made recipes of hers, but I couldn't name them. Whenever I am at Plates and Palates and I see boxed sets of goodies with Barefoot Contessa on them I think of you becuase I know you like her recipes. Ditto to Erin I don't have the food network so I need this bad. Plus I will actually be cooking over the next few months whereas Erin is going to be too busy to cook! Oh pick me, pick me!!!!

  8. LOVE Barefoot Contessa recipes! I record every show and can't wait for her new season because I think I have most of the recipes memorized by now! I think one of my very favorites is her individual meat loaves. Sounds kind of gross...meatloaf, but it is to die for! My other favs include, peanut butter and jelly bars (my hubbys fav), turkey lasagna, basil chicken hash and the most fattening recipe I think I have ever tried... her pecan squares. Mmmmm! I love reading your blog, my mother in law, Sandee, introduced me to it. It's good to know there are other crazy people out there who like to read cookbooks like I do :)

  9. I dont have any of her cookbooks, but I love watching her on Food Network! And I LOVE to cook and bake more than anything!
I, like you, find "reading" cookbooks to be a really fun (and different) past time. On Sundays, I'll grab my smallish stack of cookbooks, Rachel Ray & Martha Stewart magazines, and my hundreds of printed recipes from the internet and read! My husband has come to except it. :)
Also, Corrine has so many of The Barefoot Contessa's books, and she is a great cook as well, so they must be good! I must have at least one!
    Pick me!

  11. Another Barefoot fan....I just love her! I have a few of her cookbooks and I would have to say my favorite classic Barefoot recipe is her Flag cake (http://cuposugar.blogspot.com/2008/03/flag-cake.html)!

    Your blog is so great!

  13. I love how simple things can bring us so much happiness. Just looking at the cover of that cookbook brings a smile to my face and I want to dive in and look at all the beautiful pictures and try all the delicious recipes. Food is like music to your mouth, what music does to your soul through your ears, food can touch your soul through your eyes, nose and tastebuds and makes life richer. I would love to share her recipes with others and have gatherings where I can bring food, family and friends together and make something special happen. Thanks Si for giving me a reason to express my feelings about something I love. You're Awesome!!!

  17. My favorite recipe of Ina's that I make all the time is her recipe for brownie pudding. I am a huge chocoholic and it's to die for. I have also made her brownie recipe, which is very good too! Don't have any of her cookbooks yet but watch her show every week.

    Thanks!

  18. I'm a huge BC fan; her coconut cupcakes/cake has been made often by me and to tremendous raves. I just made her pesto recipe a few days ago and it's delish.

  19. I could write something very poetic on here to sway a vote my way, but I just have one seroius problem. My family is seriously starving! Without this cookbook I don't know if they will ever be fed again!
I haven't tried a recipe of hers that I know of. I would love to so my family could be nourished once again!:)
    Love your blog!

  20. My rational for needing/wanting/desiring (bold, I know) this cookbook is embarrassingly simple. I, regrettably, do not know how to cook. This has been a source of concern and frustration for those that share our home...especially the older, supposedly "more mature" one. In addition to the other titles that I enjoy, I would cherish the opportunity to add "cook" to my skills set. Frankly, I am embarrassed; but not enough to stop me from casting my "hat into the ring" for this perfect giveaway!
    THANKS!
